pretty cool impromptu

some people don't understand free expression in music, it's a sad result of mainstream corporate music's hold on the general public. But, on the upshot it's all just waiting there for them if they can breakaway from the rotation list....Anyway, I enjoyed your improvisation and its classical overtones ...it might make an interesting prelude..

adompeace responds:

You reiterated my ideas exactly, man. I'm a huge classical buff and no one except my intellectual and musically inclined friends know who I'm talking about when I mention Modest Mussorgsky, Franz Schubert, Igor Stravinsky or anybody of the like. It's because they're all too busy listening to Green Day, Maroon 5, Britney Spears, Soulja Boy, and others, who are all terrible imo and if they continue listening to that kind of music, they will never break away from the rotation list (as you called it) and their open-mindedness will shrink to the point where they become robots (not literally but you know what I mean). It seems their only hope is for a classical musician to gain that type of success, but that will never happen because most people have too short of an attention span.

Oh and get this: some of my peers call me conservative because I like classical music. How dumb and blatantly offensive is that remark? (yeah, "conservative" is an insult to me) And if you ever saw me in person, you would be able to tell that I'm liberal as fuck. Some of my friends like classical music and they are some of the most liberal people I know.

It was popular back in it's day not just because it was the only kind of music available, but also because there were a lot of well read people who had the ability to appreciate that kind of music. And classical is the only genre of music that seems to allow absolute free expression, in my opinion, besides jazz and progressive rock maybe.

Yeah I know this is a huge response lol but you've touched on a subject that I have a really strong opinion on.

P.S. I was actually thinking of incorporating some of this improvisation's melodies and elements in some later pieces I have in store.

just what I wanted to hear

Great job Alexx ! it was truly tripcycle ...everything sounds good.

Soundshifter responds:

thanks man :)

I'm liking what I hear other than...

I'm liking what I hear. However, the specials starting at 46sec are a bit hot for my ears and the kick is popping in the red (distorting ). If I was engineering this, the first thing I'd do is pull the kick back a little and then give it a good listen, then I'd know if the specials were going to lay in the pocket or if they might need to be pulled back too. But, all in all I like it.

AxeEraz responds:

thanx ill head back to the lab

I like this

I like this...if it were mine, I'd fleshout (voiceing leading tones ) thru the transitions a bit (swing time kinda naked on its own).. But, it stands pretty well on its own though..

Enigmatic-Boy responds:

Thanks alot! I don't know what fleshout means since I use garageband but thanks for the review!
